Video Games On A Whole New Level

Posted on Oct 04, 2010 under Counter Strike | 2 Comments

The video game industry is relatively new, but it has become a multibillion dollar industry with the advancements in computer technology. There are multiple platforms for playing video games; machines designed specifically for games and personal computers themselves. Now most games are designed so that the gamer can play against others online. If you want to add another level to your gaming experience, a broadband connection offers you an entirely new dimension of play.

Originally, games were designed to play from the beginning to the end. The users sense of accomplishment came after beating the game. Sports games offer two-player action, if the user has two controllers to play.  When the internet first became popular, the idea of playing games against other people via the internet was unthinkable. The fastest connection available then was a 56k modem, something that could hardly support playing a game over the internet. With the development of broadband internet, the gaming world has reached a whole new level. With a satellite or cable broadband internet connection, you can add a whole new challenge to your gaming experience.

The older video game systems were not designed for network play. None of the older systems like the Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, or Playstation 1 had an Ethernet port in the back. In the new video game systems such as Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, an Ethernet port is standard. Without an Ethernet port in the back a modern video game system wouldn’t stand a chance against the competition. This goes to show how much the video game industry is dependent on the internet.

Both Playstation and Xbox offer the users networks to connect and play their games. Most of the games today come with an online component so the users can play on the network. Playstation offers a free network for its users, and Microsoft, the owner of Xbox, charges its users a minimal annual subscription fee for access to the network. When the user is connected to the network, they are connected to a forum with all the other subscribers. This offers gamers millions of new opponents with a whole new level of challenge.

When a gamer plays against the computer it definitely can be a challenging experience. Games offer the users different skill levels to choose from. Even the most advanced level can become predictable because it is artificial intelligence. Playing over the internet against another person offers gamers the most difficult level of gaming. Another gamer’s tactics are unpredictable unlike the computer. The internet offers gamers the ability to increase their own skills in a new way and the most advanced level of competition in gaming.

Now there are games that are designed only for internet play. Games such as Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat only offer the user a network gaming experience. Without broadband internet access these games have little value or use. The only option without an internet connection is training, where the user only plays against computer robots. Another online sensation is Warcraft series of games. The most recent, World of Warcraft offers PC users an addicting online thriller that can essentially be played forever, allowing the user to really get their money’s worth.

All of these games require a broadband internet connection to play. Dial-up modems do not provide the bandwidth required to transfer the data at the speed that is necessary. A satellite broadband connection will add a whole new level of competition to any gaming experience.

Probably the configuration of the computer is not good enough for playing games. If the configuration of the computer does not support the games then the system is bound to freeze as lot of resources of the system are used at the same time. The system hangs because the processor has to work hard to process the game as well as the basic processes of theoperating system. If the processor is not able to execute the basic processes of the operating system then system will hang. Hence first check if the laptop supports gaming or not.
Counter strike is not supported by Windows 7operating system and hence you are facing such problems while playing the game. Windows 7 does not support lot of games which are supported by Windows Xp. If the game is not supported by the operating system then the game will either not run at all or will give some problems while running the game. The list of the games which are supported by Windows 7 is available on the official Microsoft Website. Check if the game which you are trying to play is supported by theoperating system or not. If the game is not supported then you will not be able to play the game.

Check if the display drivers are installed and working properly on the computer. All the devices which are installed on the computer require a set of drivers which are to be installed on the computer so that the device works properly. If the appropriate drivers are not installed then the device will not work properly. To check if the drivers are installed and working properly on the computer, Right click on My computer and select Device manager.

Highlight the display adapter and if there are any caution signs then follow the troubleshooting procedure. If troubleshooting does not help, you can try update the drivers for the display adapter and see if it helps.
Re: HP Pavilion dv6-2012AX freezes while playing games
The system memory of the computer is very low to run Windows 7 operating system and game at the same time and hence the system is getting stuck. Upgrading the system memory of the laptop will solve the problem. If the system memory gets depleted due to running of many processes then system in bound to get stuck. Therefore try terminating all the unwanted processes which are running before starting the game and then see if the game is working properly. Also disable scheduled tasks of all the applications as the starting of scheduled task can also create such problems.

Try configuring the graphic card and then see if the problem still persists or not. Nvidia cards are configured to run high end graphics editing software. These settings created problems while running some games. Therefore configuring the graphic card again will solve the problem. Go to graphic properties and then click on Manage 3D settings. Disable Triple buffering, Anistropic filtering and Vertical sync and then save the settings. Once these settings are done, run the game and see if the game works properly or not.

You may be an expert on Counter-Strike, Warcraft, or any other major game that you may name, but then does that mean you have no use for browser-based online games? Though these games are admittedly smaller and simpler than the games mentioned previously, the principles of gaming that they use are the same. Even though they are free online arcade games, you don’t just shrug them off as insignificant. Well, if you’re truly the gaming expert, there should be no game too small or too large for your skills, right?

The principles in play in video games are the same, whatever platform they use. You still have to use quick thinking, good analytical skills, excellent eye and hand coordination, superb logical thinking, and keeping cool under pressure. And you will need these skills even in online games, like computer games adventure and best strategy games that you find on gaming sites. The same is true when you play sports games and fun shooting games. Though browser-based games are smaller and simpler in scale, the rules are the same. You still need to be accurate with your movement of the keys and the mouse, and you also have to come up with best strategies and tactics to win. So even if you’re playing free strategy games and free shooting games, the things that you need to win them stay the same.

What does this mean for the gamer? This means you can use these online games as good practice to polish up your skills. And as mentioned earlier, true experts can surely take these games in stride. These online games are great for practice because they are short games to play, while still testing your skills on different levels and areas. Another important thing to note is that there are several games to choose from. That means, you get different looks and different game play variations so you don’t get accustomed to the game. Especially in sport games, you get different versions, thus, you also increase your flexibility and ability to adapt to new rules and new strategies. With all of these features, it’s easy to see how online games can help you improve your gaming skills.

Epic Posters from your PC Video Game?s Screenshots

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 under Counter Strike | No Comment

Planning to hold a competition over the weekend by setting up a LAN party for your fellow gamers? Or do you want to invite more people to join your video game club? Then gaming posters are the way to go! Here are some important tips on how to perfect poster printing using screenshots from your favorite video games.

How to create posters with screenshots taken from your favorite PC video games

The Screenshot. Not a lot of people know how to take a screenshot. The easiest way to do so is to use the PRT SCN (Print Screen) key. It’s usually near Scroll Lock on the upper right corner of the keyboard. A better and more efficient method is to use screen capture software such as SnagIt, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, where you can save the image in any format you want. Image editing software allows you to manipulate the image and add enhancing effects.

Bring your ‘A’ Game. Always be on the prowl for the hottest game in town. Check out your favorite video game stores and ask for the latest releases by gaming’s best known publishers. The Internet and magazines are also a good resource for game reviews that provide insight into the latest gaming technology. Though old school is also cool. Go head to head against the undead, zombies and terrorists with Warcraft, Quake and Counter-Strike. Don’t forget the gaming noobs with games from Popcap or Facebook.

Know when to take screenshots. Capture too soon and you fail to freeze the moment. Too late and it would have been all gone. Take extra effort to capture the right moment when tension and conflict are at its highest. This is the moment you want to preserve in your screenshot so take your time. Lighting must be good and make sure you capture the image in high resolution. Consider the moment when you’re taking a screenshot. Make sure that the lighting is good to avoid pixelation.

Use a striking design. Add text to compliment your screenshot. It doesn’t have to be a long string of text. Just say what the poster is for. If it’s there to simply spice up the occasion, mention a famous line from the game like “fire in the hole”. Heads will turn and faces will smile. Everybody will definitely have a great time and it’s all because of your epic posters. So go to the nearest printing company now and get going with those posters!
